Make Up How Tos with Bren: Easy Smokey Eye

Itʼs always nice to have a well mastered makeup look in your arsenal, for those days when youʼve got little time to pull it together. I love when I can sit in front of the mirror for 45 minutes just blending, perfecting, and taking my sweet time. However, more times than not, Iʼm rushing to throw myself together, or just not in the mood for an overly involved makeup process. Sometimes you just need a look that only takes 5 minutes, but still looks like you made an effort. A smokey eye is perfect for gaining instant glamour, and this one can be achieved by using just three products. You probably already have them in your makeup bag! For Mel, I decided to give her a slightly winged version of the smokey look, but you can round the edges instead for a softened effect. Play around and see which version looks best on you.

What youʼll need:

Black Kohl Eye Pencil – MAC Smolder
Charcoal Shimmer Eyeshadow – Bobbi Brown Gunmetal Mascara – Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black
Eyeshadow Brush – MAC #239
Eyeshadow Blending Brush – MAC #217
Nude Lipstick – MAC Shy Girl

Begin by using the black eyeliner as a shadow base to cover your lid, continuing up to the crease. Shape the outer third of the lid in either a rounded or winged style with your pencil.
Using a clean eyeshadow blending brush (MAC #217), buff the edges of the crease to soften the hard line left by the pencil.

Load up an eyeshadow brush (MAC ) with your Charcoal eyeshadow. Pack the color onto the lid, directly on top of the black pencil base.
With a clean eyeshadow blending brush (MAC #217), blend the crease edges again.

Line your lower lash line with the same black pencil that you used all over your lids.
Use the leftover shadow on your MAC to blend your lower lash line.
Line your upper and lower water line with your black pencil.

Give lashes a quick curl and a good coat of your blackest mascara.

The perfect finishing touch to a smokey eye is a nude lip. Swipe directly from the
tube, or for a lighter application, use a lip brush.
